WALES RALLY GB
CARDIFF, WALES
NOV 11 - 14, 2010
New for 2010 is a longer rally. This year's Rally of Great Britain is a four day race, with several stages taking place Thursday November 11th.
SEBASTIEN LOEB WINS 2010 WALES RALLY GB
Along with the WRC title, Frenchman Sebastien Loeb and his co-driver Daniel Elena took the race for the Citroen Total team.
Citroen privateer, Norwegian Petter Solberg finished, with BP Ford Abu Dhabi Team team driver Jari-Matti Latvala finishing third.
2010 WALES RALLY GB - RECAP
The Citroen Total World Rally Team crew of Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena maintained their advantage in Wales Rally GB today to clinch victory on the final round of the 2010 FIA World Rally Championship. The pair fought hard to stay ahead of Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson, who finished a close second in their privately-run Citroen C4 WRC. Third position was claimed by Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila in a Ford Focus RS WRC.
The FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers was clinched by Loeb on his home round in France. However, the battle for second and third positions in the series was intense. Third place in Wales was sufficient for Latvala to claim second and Petter Solberg finished third in the series. Sébastien Ogier's retirement from the event on Saturday dropped him from second to fourth in the Drivers' Championship. The Citroen Total World Rally Team also won the Manufacturers' Championship in France and the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team finished second.
The final leg of Wales Rally GB took in just 76.14 competitive kilometres over two loops of two stages, however conditions remained tricky. Loeb started the day with a slim 4.8 second lead, but in the first run through the Resolfen stage increased his advantage after Solberg backed off in the slippery conditions. By the mid-day service, the Frenchman had pulled out a 14.3 second lead and this afternoon he again extended that when Solberg hit a rock and damaged a wheel in SS18 and then briefly went off the road in stage 19.
Jari-Matti Latvala spent the day closing in on team-mate Hirvonen. The Finn had a problem when the steering column came loose in the opening stage of the day, but went on to overhaul Hirvonen in stage 19 to clinch second in the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers. Dani Sordo finished fifth, 18.9 seconds adrift of Hirvonen. All other positions within the top 10 remained unchanged throughout the day.

RALLYE DE FRANCE
ALSACE, FRANCE
SEPT 30 - OCT 3, 2010
This year the rally moves from its long term home on the island of Corsica to a new base in the Alsace region, near the German border.
SEBASTIEN LOEB WINS RALLYE DE FRANCE
Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena today won the inaugural Rallye de France - Alsace and in so doing have clinched a record-breaking seventh consecutive FIA World Rally Championship title. Team-mates Dani Sordo and Diego Vallejo claimed second, securing the FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers for Citroen. The final podium position was taken by Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson.
In the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, Loeb's 60th world rally victory secured the title with two rounds in Spain and Great Britain remaining. Sebastien Ogier remains second ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala and Petter Solberg respectively. In the Manufacturers' Championship, Citroen's one-two finish has secured their third consecutive world title.
Today's final day of Rallye de France took in two loops of two stages, with the final stage taking place in Loeb's home town, Haguenau. Positions throughout the top 10 leaderboard remained unchanged during the day, although Jari-Matti Latvala continued to push Solberg for the final podium position, gaining time when the Norwegian went off in SS18 and lost 11 seconds. Dani Sordo had a scare this morning when he had to change a water hose at the end of the first running of the Haguenau stage, but the Spaniard had no further problems.

RALLY JAPAN
SAPPORO, JAPAN
SEPTEMBER 10 - 12, 2010
Rally Headquarters and the Super Special are at the Sapporo Dome, with the Service Park being at a location three kilometres away.
SEBASTIEN OGIER WINS RALLY JAPAN
Here is the post race media interview with Sebastien Ogier:
Question:
Sebastien, congratulations on your second win of the 2010 season and on your first time competing in Japan! How do you feel?
Sebastien Ogier:
Very good. It's a perfect weekend for me. To take my second victory and first with the official team, it's a good feeling. It was difficult, especially today. When you have a fight against Petter, it's never easy.
Question:
How many risks did you take in that fight with Petter?
Sebastien Ogier:
This morning we had to take big risks. It's stupid to go out and not score any points for the Championship, but as I said, when you want to beat Petter and Mikko - although he had a problem - you have to push very hard. I did it on the first one and then we took a little bit more seconds and then it was a little bit more comfortable.
Question:
Given that this was your first time here, were you surprised at your speed?
Sebastien Ogier:
Maybe I am, but I am happy to be surprised. When I came I said it was not the kind of roads I prefer and I expected the difficult weekend. But we learn quite quickly and we started the rally with the safety. On the second day we look at the split times and today, now we had a good road position so we push very hard. At the end it's a very good weekend.
Question:
Two wins this season, second in the Championship, it's been an incredible season for you hasn't it?
Sebastien Ogier:
Until now it's almost perfect, almost better than I expected at the start of the season. It's good to have progression, but we have to work on all surfaces, tarmac maybe. I hope we can be closer to Seb [Loeb] on tarmac, he's grand on tarmac. This is especially important on a new rally [France].

RALLY BULGARIA
BOROVETS, BULGARIA
JULY 9 - 11, 2010
After 39 years as the country's premier rally event, Rally Bulgaria finally makes its debut in the World Rally Championship.
The first of four asphalt rallies in 2010, Bulgaria represents a leap into the unknown for the majority of WRC teams and drivers. But if the popularity of the European Championship rally is anything to go by, the combination of a challenging, compact route and the stunning mountain scenery will make it an exciting addition.
SEBASTIEN LOEB WINS RALLY BULGARIA
Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena today won the inaugural FIA World Rally Championship event in Bulgaria. The Citroen Total World Rally Team crew claimed a 29.5 second winning margin over team mates Dani Sordo/Marc Marti, with Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson taking the final podium position.
The final day of competition in the Bulgarian mountains took in two loops of two stages covering 94.52 competitive kilometres. With significant time differences between the crews, the main fight on the leaderboard was between Sordo and Solberg. However, neither was prepared to risk their podium placing and so positions within the top 10 remained unchanged throughout the day.
Former Formula One World Champion Kimi Raikkonen continued to recover from his first day accident, setting top times and ultimately finishing 11th overall in his first tarmac rally.

RALLY NEW ZEALAND
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
MAY 7 - 9, 2010
Rally New Zealand is the oldest WRC event in the Southern Hemisphere and is renowned for its fast flowing gravel roads and the beautiful landscape of the country's North Island.
JARI-MATTI LATVALA WINS RALLY NEW ZEALAND
"It's been a very interesting weekend. For me it's been, I would say, a little bit of a strange rally, because I have not won a single stage in this rally but in the end I'm the winner. So it seems that the consistency matters. So I was a little bit lucky that these guys beside me made mistakes. But anyway you need to finish the last stage and our time comes, so in a way a great weekend." said Jari-Matti Latvala at the post race press conference.
He added, "When I started this morning I though okay the main thing is to keep the third place. But things obviously changed and going in to the last stage I just thought that if I drive fast it's good, as I have been driving so far - if I don't start doing a massive push, because I know what happens then when Mr Latvala starts to push too hard! It's happened so many times, but it worked this time and I am very happy about it."

RALLY OF TURKEY
ISTANBUL, TURKEY
APRIL 16 - 18, 2010
This year the Rally has shifted location to the other side of Turkey, to Istanbul - the world's fifth largest city and the only one to straddle two continents (Europe and Asia).
Due to the new location, this year's Rally of Turkey is a big step into the unknown for the WRC drivers and teams, who will tackle a brand new set of stages to the north and east of the Asian side of Istanbul.
SEBASTIEN LOEB WINS RALLY OF TURKEY
Sebastien Loeb won Rally of Turkey by nearly a minute to extend his lead of the World Rally Championship to 40 points over privateer Citroen driver Petter Solberg, who finished second.
Citroen now has a 15 point lead over Ford in the manufacturers' rankings. "It was good to be able to fight from the front and not have to think about the tactics," said Loeb. "It was not easy because I really had to push from the start."
Solberg claimed his third consecutive podium to move up to the championship runner up spot, making good on his promise to be a genuine title contender in 2010.

RALLY SWEDEN, SWEDEN
FEBUARY 12 - 14, 2010
The rally had a difficult time in 2008, when mild temperatures turned stages around its central Sweden base of Karlstad into a slush fest. This year, in an effort to deliver a proper winter landscape, much of the event has been shifted north. The start, finish and Super Special remain in Karlstad, while the Service Park is 85km away in the town of Hagfors - ideally placed for the gravel roads and forests of the Varmland and Dalarna regions.
NEW FOR 2010 RALLY SWEDEN
With the exception of the Karlstad Super Special, only two of the stages from 2008 remain. The rest is a mix of brand new routes and tests used in previous years when the rally went further north.
HIRVONEN WINS RALLY SWEDEN
"It's absolutely fantastic!" said Hirvonen. "And I'm really happy it's over after those last few stages; you can't imagine how nervous I was in there. It's a perfect start to my year, I've never won the first round before, but after last season I've got one more year of experience. Now I plan to carry on like this. It's a new game in Mexico and I can't wait to get started again."
