WALES RALLY GB (December 5 - 7, 2008)
Wales Rally GB is the WRC season closer, with a wet, windy and wild December date. The promise of rain, mud, fog and even the possibility of snow and ice are all thrown into the mix. The gravel forest stages of south Wales, near to host city Cardiff, are fast and flowing and, when wet, can become as slippery as any in the world.
______________________________ LOEB HAS CHAMPIONSHIP AND WINS WALES RALLY GB "This one was incredible!" said Loeb at the finish control. "The ice made conditions really tricky. With no gravel crews I didn't like it and I've not been happy all weekend. But today we had a good, good fight and it was exciting to fight with Jari-Matti. After the jump start in the stage before we had to try everything here because for me I was two seconds behind. Finally we won and it's a very good feeling! Also the championship for Citroen it's really good news. With Dani third it's the perfect result for the team!" ______________________________

drivers' title are over," said Hirvonen. "We did all we could but it wasn't enough to prevent Sebastien winning the title, which he richly deserves, and I congratulate him. Conditions were so changeable that it was a difficult and nervewracking weekend and I never had the luxury of being able to ease off. I didn't want to take risks in the wet weather today. I was aquaplaning many times and had several lucky escapes." "Although the drivers' championship is out of reach we will go to the final round with the manufacturers' title still possible and my thoughts will now focus on that," he added. LOEB WINS TOUR DE CORSE
Sebastien Loeb made it two WRC victories in two weekends by winning the 2008 Tour de Corse October 12th. Loeb completed the final 26km asphalt stage without incident to win in his Citroen C4 WRC with a lead of 3min24.7sec. In a faultless performance on his home rally Loeb was fastest on all but two of the 16 stages and extended his lead in the 2008 drivers' championship to 14 points. Loeb's victory on the Tour de Corse kept Citroen ahead of Ford in the manufacturers' series standings by 23 points. "It's getting better and better" said Loeb at the end of the race. "To win here in Corsica is a great moment. We were much faster all rally and that's great for me and the team. We'll add another two more points to our championship lead. A 14 point lead with two rallies to go looks good. So okay, we'll see how we get on in Japan." ______________________________ RALLYE DE FRANCE - TOUR DE CORSE FINAL RESULTS Pos No Class Driver Nat Car Time 1 1 A8 Sebastien Loeb F Citroen C4 3:42:58.0 2 3 A8 Mikko Hirvonen FIN Ford FOCUS 3:46:22.7 3 4 A8 Francois Duval B Ford FOCUS 3:46:29.6 4 8 A8 Jari Matti Latvala FIN Ford FOCUS 3:46:35.5 5 5 A8 Petter Solberg N Subaru IMPREZA 3:48:33.4 6 6 A8 Chris Atkinson AUS Subaru IMPREZA 3:49:08.4 7 25 A8 Urmo Aava EE Citroen C4 3:50:23.2 8 7 A8 Matthew Wilson GB Ford FOCUS 3:52:00.2 9 21 A8 Mads Ostberg N Subaru IMPREZA 3:52:11.3 10 15 A8 Barry Clark GB Ford FOCUS 3:56:36.3 11 23 A8 Andreas Mikkelsen N Ford FOCUS 3:56:44.0 12 17 A8 Kalid Al Qassimi UAE Ford FOCUS 3:57:04.3 13 11 A8 Toni Gardemeister FIN Suzuki SX4 3:57:29.2 14 24 A8 Conrad Rautenbach ZIM Citroen C4 3:57:40.2 15 16 A8 Henning Solberg N Ford FOCUS 3:58:51.4 16 22 A8 Gareth Jones GB Subaru IMPREZA 4:01:43.0 17 12 A8 Per Gunnar Andersson S Suzuki SX4 4:01:55.0 18 61 A8 Alain Vauthier F Peugeot 206 4:04:26.6 19 31 A6 Martin Prokop CZ Citroen C2 4:04:43.9 20 42 A6 Sebastien Ogier F Citroen C2 4:05:01.6 21 59 A7 Pierre Campana F Renault CLIO 4:05:37.2 22 64 A8 Armando Pereira F Peugeot 307 4:06:20.7 23 83 A6 Guy Fiori F Renault CLIO 4:06:27.2 24 68 N4 Juho Hanninen FIN Mitsubishi LANCER 4:06:49.4 25 60 A6 Pierre Marche F Suzuki SWIFT 4:06:51.8 26 33 A6 Aaron Burkart D Citroen C2 4:07:21.7 27 70 N4 Jean-Dominique Matte F Peugeot 207 4:07:25.2 28 41 A7 Patrick Sandell S Renault CLIO 4:08:08.2 29 43 A6 Florian Niegel D Suzuki SWIFT 4:09:03.7 30 45 A7 Kevin Abbring NL Renault CLIO 4:10:01.3 31 39 A7 Stefano Albertini I Renault CLIO 4:11:53.6 32 95 A6 Jean Pascal Gobert F Citroen C2 4:18:16.3 33 47 A7 Gilles Schammel LUX Renault CLIO 4:18:28.4 34 78 A7 Pierre Quilici F Renault CLIO 4:18:37.7 35 71 N4 Pierre Natali F Mitsubishi EVO 4:19:26.2 36 32 A6 Jaan Molder EE Suzuki SWIFT 4:20:08.3 37 44 A6 Hans Weijs Jr NL Citroen C2 4:22:26.3 38 81 A7 Rizziero Zigliani I Renault CLIO 4:28:25.9 39 101 A6 Jeremy Boulege F Peugeot 206 4:29:11.2 40 89 N3 Philippe Giovanni F Renault CLIO 4:33:27.0 41 96 A6 Eric Lafont F Citroen C2 4:36:02.5 42 97 A6 Philippe Rovina F Peugeot 206 4:36:32.5 43 66 A8 Jose Micheli F Peugeot 307 4:36:49.4 44 99 A6 Sabrina De Castelli F Citroen C2 4:37:22.8 45 85 A6 Paolo Aldeghi I Renault CLIO 4:40:02.4 46 94 N3 Jean-Marc Poisson F Honda CIVIC 4:41:07.4 47 100 A6 Patrick Colleie F Citroen SAXO 4:45:47.8 48 86 A6 Antonin Tlustak CZ Citroen C2 4:50:42.4 49 104 N1 Francois Maestracci F Skoda FABIA 4:52:25.5 50 80 A7 Jacques Fabregat F Renault CLIO 4:58:43.1 51 103 A6 Pierre Kemp F Peugeot 206 5:10:34.7 53 92 N3 Claude Bensimon F Peugeot 206 5:13:00.9 54 93 N3 Jean Matteo Antonini F Renault CLIO 5:14:41.7 RETIREMENTS No Driver/Car Class Control Reason 2 Dani SORDO (E)/ Citroen C4 A8 3 MECHANICAL 14 Brice TIRABASSI (F)/ Subaru IMPREZA WRC A8 14 MECHANICAL 35 Michal KOSCIUSZKO (PL)/Suzuki SWIFT S1600 A6 1 OFF ROAD 37 Simone BERTOLOTTI (I)/ Renault CLIO R3 A7 10 OFF ROAD 40 Arnaud AUGOYARD (F)/ Renault CLIO R3 A7 7 OFF ROAD 48 Alessandro BETTEGA (I)/ Renault CLIO R3 A7 15 OFF ROAD 63 Francois PADRONA (F)/ Subaru IMPREZA WRC A8 12D OFF ROAD 65 Georges GUEBEY (F)/ Peugeot 206 WRC A8 13 MECHANICAL 72 Michel BRANCA (F)/Mitsubishi LANCER EVO 7 N4 3 MECHANICAL 73 Jaromir TOMASTIK (CZ)/ Subaru WRX STI N4 1 MECHANICAL 75 Thomas BARRAL (F)/ Renault CLIO R3 A7 7 MECHANICAL 76 Pierre Antoine GUGLIELMI(F)/Renault CLIO A7 13 OFF ROAD 77 Mathieu BIASION (F)/ Renault CLIO R3 A7 8 OFF ROAD 84 Charles ZUCCARELLI(F)/Renault CLIO S1600 A6 1 OFF ROAD 88 Jean-Philippe MUSELLI (F)/ Renault CLIO N3 3 MECHANICAL 91 Bastien MURACCIOLI (F)/ Renault CLIO N3 1 OFF ROAD 102 Sylvie CANCELLIERI (F)/ Peugeot 206 XS A6 2 MECHANICAL RALLYE DE ESPANA (October 3- 5, 2008)
The Spanish event is based in the PortAventura theme park, in the town of Salou in the Tarragona region. It has wide, sweeping asphalt roads providing the fastest sealed-surface stages of the WRC season. Driving techniques can pay dividends on the fast asphalt stages as drivers aim for smooth lines through the turns to maximize their speed.

REPCO RALLY NEW ZEALAND (August 28 - 31, 2008)
The WRC is is off to New Zealand. The Repco Rally New Zealand is the oldest WRC event in the Southern Hemisphere and is renowned for its fast gravel roads and the beautiful landscape of the country's North Island.
______________________________ LOEB'S WORDS AFTER THE RALLY: "This morning I had the spin and just wasn't able to make up the gap to Mikko - I thought it was over and we'd lost the chance," said Loeb "But then it all changed and we were leading again. But this was really a difficult rally, changing all the time, with some strategy coming in too. I needed to win for sure, and that's very nice, but I'm not happy for what happened to Mikko because he was doing really well and it was a good battle. But okay; it's a race and these things happen sometimes." ______________________________ REPCO RALLY NEW ZEALAND FINAL RESULTS Pos No Class Driver Nat Car Time 1 1 A8 Sebastien Loeb F Citroen C4 3:59:18 2 2 A8 Dani Sordo E Citroen C4 3:59:36 3 3 A8 Mikko Hirvonen FIN Ford Focus 4:00:00 4 5 A8 Petter Solberg N Subaru Impreza 4:02:07 5 14 A8 Urmo Aava EE Citroen C4 4:02:49 6 12 A8 Per-Gunnar Andersson S Suzuki SX4 4:06:56 7 11 A8 Toni Gardemeister FIN Suzuki SX4 4:07:13 8 9 A8 Federico Villagra RA Ford Focus 4:07:53 9 10 A8 Henning Solberg N Ford Focus 4:08:34 10 67 N4 Emma Gilmour NZ Subaru Impreza 4:16:26 11 8 A8 Matthew Wilson GB Ford Focus 4:16:34 12 69 N4 Sloan Cox NZ Mitsubishi Lancer 4:28:14 13 78 N4 Masahiro Nakajima J Subaru Impreza 4:42:00 14 82 N3 Brendan Reeves AUS Ford Fiesta 4:45:37 15 77 N4 Brent Taylor NZ Mitsubishi Lancer 4:47:21 16 66 N4 Nathan Thomas NZ Mitsubishi Lancer 4:50:17 17 85 N4 Tomoki Ohashi J Subaru Impreza 4:51:16 18 86 N3 Dermott Malley NZ Ford Fiesta 4:53:51 19 81 N4 Trevor Taylor NZ Mitsubishi Lancer 4:57:41 20 83 N3 Patrick Malley NZ Ford Fiesta 5:04:45 21 84 N3 Ben Jagger NZ Ford Fiesta 5:15:36 Retirements: No Driver Car Class Control 4 Jari-Matti LATVALA (FIN) Ford Focus RS WRC 07 A8 17 ACCIDENT 6 Chris ATKINSON (AUS) Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 A8 15 RADIATOR 7 Francois DUVAL (B) Ford Focus RS WRC 07 A8 17 OFF ROAD 15 Conrad RAUTENBACH (ZW) Citroen C4 A8 18 MECHANICAL 31 Toshi ARAI (J) Subaru Impreza WRX STI N4 5 RADIATOR 32 Mirco BALDACCI (RSM) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 13D WITHDRAWN 35 Evgeny NOVIKOV (RUS) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 13D WITHDRAWN 39 Misfer AL-MARRI (QA) Subaru Impreza WRX STI N4 15 FIRE 41 Andreas AIGNER (A) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 12 OFF ROAD 43 Evgeniy VERTUNOV (RUS) Subaru Impreza WRX STI N4 2 DAMAGE 47 Giorgio BACCO (I) Subaru Impreza WRX STi N4 10 OFF ROAD 56 Fumio NUTAHARA (J) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 15 MECHANICAL 58 Naren KUMAR (IND) Subaru Impreza WRX STI N4 15C MECHANICAL 60 Chris WEST (NZ) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 15 DIFFERENTIAL 61 Richard MASON (NZ) Subaru Impreza WRX STi N4 15 MECHANICAL 64 Callum MCINNES (NZ) Subaru Impreza WRX STi N4 15 OFF ROAD 73 Andre MEIER (NZ) Subaru Impreza N4 15 ACCIDENT 74 Kirsty NELSON (NZ) Subaru Impreza N4 13D WITHDRAWN 75 Tony GREEN (NZ) Subaru Impreza WRX STI N4 17 OFF ROAD 76 Bruce FULLERTON (AUS) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII N4 13D WITHDRAWN 80 Brett MARTIN (NZ) Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX N4 10 WITHDRAWN 87 Motoharu KASEYA (J) Ford Fiesta ST N3 4 OFF ROAD ADAC RALLYE DEUTCHLAND (August 15 - 17, 2008)
The WRC is is off to Germany for the ADAC Rallye Deutchland. This is
the second asphalt rally of the season and is held in Germany's wine-producing Mosel region, near to the historic city of Trier. This may be an all asphalt event, but it has one of the widest variety of sealed surfaces on the calendar. As such, it's a tricky rally that demands the very best from its drivers.______________________________ THE TOP 3 FINISHERS IN GERMANY: Sebastien Loeb: "I'm very happy to have won here. Germany is a special rally for me, and as we won't get the chance to come here next year it was good to finish like this. We had a good feeling in the car all weekend, and had no real problems to contend with. Everything worked out well and now I am in the best position to start the rest of the season. Maybe New Zealand will be a little more difficult now I will be first on the road, because there is a lot of loose gravel - especially if it's dry - but at he moment I'm happy to take the lead of the championship, and pleased with the job Dani and I did for Citroen." Dani Sordo: "I'm pleased because second is a good result for both Championships; for me in the drivers' and it's helped Citroen to the lead of the manufacturers'. Of course I'm still trying to win a rally myself, but it wasn't this event. I made a few mistakes, and lost a lot of time on the first day, but on the second I changed some suspension setting and the feeling was very good since then. For Citroen a one, two is very encouraging for the rest of the season." Francois Duval: "A fantastic result - but it's been a difficult weekend. With only one day of testing after seven months at home I found it hard. On the first and second days I struggled especially, but the finale wasn't so bad for me. If I could get some testing in, it will be much better. My next event is Spain, but if I was asked to stand in for Gigi on Rally New Zealand then I would be very happy to." ______________________________ ADAC RALLYE DEUTCHLAND FINAL RESULTS Pos No Class Driver Nat Car Time 1 1 A8 Sebastien Loeb F Citroen C4 3:26:19.7 2 2 A8 Daniel Sordo E Citroen C4 3:27:07.4 3 8 A8 Francois Duval B Ford Focus 3:27:39.7 4 3 A8 Mikko Hirvonen FIN Ford Focus 3:27:49.8 5 5 A8 Petter Solberg N Subaru Impreza 3:28:55.0 6 6 A8 Christopher Atkinson AUS Subaru Impreza 3:31:05.6 7 15 A8 Henning Solberg N Ford Focus 3:31:55.9 8 18 A8 Urmo Aava EE Citroen C4 3:31:57.5 9 4 A8 Jari-Matti Latvala FIN Ford Focus 3:32:36.9 10 11 A8 Toni Gardemeister FIN Suzuki SX4 3:33:36.5 11 19 A8 Andreas Mikkelsen N Ford Focus 3:34:50.5 12 16 A8 Matthew Wilson GB Ford Focus 3:35:07.7 13 17 A8 Conrad Rautenbach ZW Citroen C4 3:35:44.4 14 21 A8 Khalid Al Qassimi UAE Ford Focus 3:40:05.7 15 12 A8 Per-Gunnar Andersson S Suzuki SX4 3:40:37.9 16 25 A8 Gareth Jones GB Subaru Impreza 3:43:39.6 17 63 A8 Peter Van Merksteijn NL Ford Focus 3:43:54.5 18 64 A8 Dennis Kuipers NL Ford Focus 3:47:35.4 19 42 A6 Sebastien Ogier F Citroen C2 3:47:36.0 20 62 A8 Harry Kleinjan NL Skoda Fabia 3:47:48.9 21 24 A8 Peter Van Merksteijn NL Ford Focus 3:50:14.3 22 66 N4 Hermann Gassner D Mitsubishi Lancer 3:50:29.5 23 33 A6 Aaron Nicolai Burkar D Citroen C2 3:51:10.2 24 22 A8 Mark Van Eldik NL Subaru Impreza 3:52:05.3 25 67 A6 Kris Meeke GB Renault Clio 3:52:33.9 26 48 A7 Alessandro Bettega I Renault Clio 3:52:50.4 27 46 A6 Shaun Gallagher IRL Citroen C2 3:53:16.9 28 72 N4 Hermann Gassner Jun. There are loads of possibilities that a rally fan can do - no matter how old or young you are. In the Paviljonki area you can enjoy the action of the FamilyWorld, the RallyExpo, the RallyShop Service Park and the Podium. The Paviljonki area is like the heart of Neste Oil Rally Finland. On top of the huge jumps, fast gravel roads and scenic lake views, Neste Oil Rally Finland is an event with several other activities. In the RallyShow you will meet your favourite drivers, the RallyExpo will introduce you the coolest new cars and in the Karjala RallyParty you can dance like never before. In the Past the event has been dominated by the Scandinavians. They're used to driving on these type of roads, that's were local experience counts. ______________________________ LOEB WINS RALLY FINLAND "I'm thrilled to have won this rally," beamed Sebastien Loeb after the finish podium in Jyvaskyla. "And I'm especially pleased with the way we won it. From start to finish, the scrap reminded me of the clashes we had last year with Marcus Gronholm. It was a very close run thing throughout and we were never able to relax. The decision to keep the lead at the end of the opening day involved a certain amount of risk because we didn't know exactly how much road-sweeping we would have to do. It meant pushing hard all the way, but the tactic finally paid off." "Our objective today was to keep up a fast pace over the final day's stages and keep a close eye on how our main rival was going," continued the four-time World Champion. "It was important not to make any mistakes and that meant building in a certain safety margin. After spending the first two days driving flat out between the trees, I had absolutely no intention of letting our 42nd WRC win slip from our grasp." "Today's victory also means we have met one of the objectives we set ourselves at the start of the season and that's a particularly satisfying feeling. I had every confidence in my Citroen C4 from flag to flag and this result gives our chances in the Drivers' championship a terrific boost since it narrows the gap down to just three points. It's been a positive weekend, too, for Citroën in the Manufacturers' standings." "When you know just how tough it is to win this event, today's result is immensely satisfying," concluded Citroen Total team principal Olivier Quesnel. "Sebastien and Daniel didn't put a foot wrong and they came out on top at the end of what was an unrelenting fight. The tremendous work put in by everyone in the technical team on the C4 since last year has paid dividends. It was awesomely competitive and this is a top result for us in terms of the Manufacturers' Championship, too. The way both C4s performed is particularly encouraging for the rest of the season. Dani and Marc also put in a very mature run. A magnificent victory, some outstanding times, clockwork reliability and a big points haul... what else could we ask for?" ______________________________ NESTE OIL RALLY FINLAND FINAL RESULTS Pos No After yesterday's punishing stages, today's conditions were far more straightforward. We succeeded in driving sufficiently quickly to stayed concentrated but at the same time we did what we could to make sure we spared our tyres and car all the way to the flag. This is an important win for us, it shows the progress we have made on the loose, while the work put in by everyone in the team to adapt our Citroen C4 WRC to its Pirelli tyres across the full spectrum of surface types has paid dividends. I am pleased with our run over what are incontestably the toughest stages of the season. Today's result has enabled us to recover the lead in the championship and it's been a good weekend, too, in terms of the Manufacturers' championship. The strength and competitiveness of our C4 and the successful management of our Pirelli tyres were the main keys to success here."
