DENNIS THOMSON WINS 30 LAP MOSPORT FEATURE RACE
The starting grid for the 20-lap feature was determined from the results of the heat race, won by the #66 Dodge Charger of Josh Nicholson. His heat win allowed him to lead the 13-car field to the green flag in the feature event.
Taking advantage of his pole position, Nicholson launched into the lead almost immediately, with past series champions Tim Norris (#88) and Dennis Thomson (#02) firmly affixed to his back bumper. Thomson was able to get by Norris for second place on lap three and the front-running trio separated themselves from the rest of the field.
Running bumper to bumper, the leaders began to encounter traffic by lap 16. Coming upon a slower car, Nicholson swung wide to pass on the outside heading into Turn One, while Thomson seized the opportunity and grabbed the low line, tucked to the inside and emerged from the three wide scramble with the lead.
Stretching his advantage to three car lengths by the checkered flag, Thomson claimed the victory, his seventh career win at Mosport Speedway. Nicholson, the winner of the two previous feature races at Sunset and Varney Speedways, was followed by Norris and his father Ken Nicholson.
"The lapped car waved Josh by on the low side, but he went high," said Thomson. "I knew that this was my chance. Josh has been tearing it up this year, I wasn't sure if I had anything for him."

JOSH NICHOLSON WINS 30 LAP FEATURE
An even spread of rookies and veterans made it difficult to pick a favourite as the cars took the green for their 30-lap affair.
Ken Nicholson (No. 99 International Truck & Engine Chevrolet) led early, though it was clear he had his hands full keeping his son and team mate Josh Nicholson (No. 66 Firkin Pubs Dodge) at bay. After a short game of cat and mouse, the younger Nicholson powered into turn-3 and ducked under to snatch the lead.
Nicholson would fend off a late race challenge by defending champion Dennis Thomson (No. 02 Thomson Signs Ford) for his second straight feature victory, followed by Thomson, Ken Nicholson, Tim Forbes and Tim Norris.
In victory lane, Nicholson explained how the series' mandatory change in setup didn't quite affect him the way it did some of his competitors. "For me, it takes it back to the way these cars felt 4 or 5 years ago. I'm not having a problem with it at all". Nicholson then acknowledged the pressure veteran Dennis Thomson had him under towards race end and thanked his sponsors and crew.

JOSH NICHOLSON WINS BY LESS THAN A CAR LENGTH
As the field rolled onto the track for their first feature race at Varney, the 66 year old veteran; #85 Malcolm McMaster sat on the pole and, right along side him, the Pro Challenge points leader #04 Tim Forbes. When the green flag flew, Forbes jumped out to the early lead from outside the front row. He would hold the top spot unchallenged for the first dozen laps.
From back in the pack, the young gun, #66 Josh Nicholson was steadily picking cars off as he marched to the front. After dispatching his father, #99 Ken Nicholson, the younger of the two moved into the second position and set his sights on the leader. Also on the move, #02 Dennis Thomson followed the same path as J. Nicholson and found himself in the third position early on.
Lap 15 was the breaking point of the race when J. Nicholson dove to the inside of Forbes exiting turn two. Thomson hooked onto the back bumper of Nicholson and the pair blew by the leader heading into turn three. There would be no change up front then, on lap 47, McMaster and #14 Tim Shanahan spun battling for position in turn four bringing out the first caution of the race and, only three laps from the finish. What little lead Nicholson had over Thomson was now gone. Not only that, Forbes, K. Nicholson, #60 Scott Fletcher and #10 Bob Hopton; who were all gaining on the leaders; would now restart the race packed up with the leaders.
On the restart, something let go on Forbes' car and the series points leader spun to the infield in turn two bringing out the yellow flag once again. The field was realigned for another restart setting up a green-white-checker finish. The nearly packed house was on their feet as the young Nicholson brought the pack to the green. Thomson tried to get a run on the outside of Nicholson out of turn two but could not make the pass before they hit turn three. Out of turn four, Thomson tried the inside as Nicholson drove under the white flag. With less than a lap to go, Thomson looked to the inside line again out of turn two but could not get along side the leader. Turns three and four were the last ditch attempt for Thomson to steal the win and, once again, he dropped down underneath Nicholson out of turn four as the two drivers raced side-by-side to the checkered flag. By less than a car length, it was #66 Josh Nicholson edging Thomson for his first ever feature race win in the Pro Challenge series in eight years of competition. K.Nicholson held onto third with Fletcher and Hopton rounding out the top five. Qualifying heat races run earlier in the evening were won by Hopton and J. Nicholson.

TIM NORRIS WINS KAWARTHA
Ken Nicholson and Dennis Thomson split the Ontario Pro Challenge qualifying events, with Tim Norris picking up the feature.
The Pro Challenge main event featured a nasty tumble as the #14 machine of Tim Shannahan lost control on the front stretch, and then did a series barrel rolls, before coming to a stop on the apron of turn #1. Rescue crews were quickly on the scene and helped Shannahan from his scarred ride. The driver appeared shaken, but was otherwise unhurt.

STROUD, ONTARIO, MAY 23, 2009
Sunset played host to the Ontario Pro Challenge Series for their first race of 2009. The Series' night started out with a first, as Malcolm McMaster notched his first career win during the first round of heat races.
Not to be out done, Barrie, ON's Tim Forbes was also in the hunt for a career first in the form of a feature win. Forbes has gained pro-challenge experience at tracks from Ontario to Florida to Indiana and back, though was looking forward to bringing home his first victory in his backyard.
Forbes started near the front and wasted little time in disposing of early race leader Kyle Batty. Forbes was followed to the front defending champion Dennis Thompson, who cut through the field from his 7th place starting position.
Though the race was slowed mid-way by a pair of cautions, Forbes' momentum was never disrupted and though Thompson stayed close to his bumper, the Barrie, ON driver remained unflappable.
Forbes crossed the line followed by Thompson, Josh Nicholson, Tim Norris and Malcolm McMaster.
"It's nice to win so close to home" remarked Forbes "those cautions didn't affect my strategy, I just wanted to make sure I got off to a strong restart. I knew Dennis [Thompson] was there, and I was just trying to stay smooth, we had a little problem with the lapped traffic, but we made it out alright".
