NEWS FROM THE WORLD CUP OF MOTORSPORTS- INDY RACING LEAGUE

NEW TITLE SPONSOR FOR 2010 - IZOD

Indianapolis Motor Speedway- IZOD entered into an agreement with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the sanctioning Indy Racing League that designated the IZOD brand as the official apparel sponsor of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights.

IZOD will retain its designation as the official apparel partner of the Indy Racing League (IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights). Firestone, the exclusive tire supplier to both series, will continue to be the title sponsor of the developmental series.

"Our relationship with the IZOD brand has been on the fast track since the day we began our partnership in 2008, and we are thrilled they have taken a bigger and more vital role in our sport," said Terry Angstadt, president of the commercial division of the Indy Racing League.

DARIO FRANCHITTI WINS CHAMPIONSHIP AT HOMESTEAD

HOMESTEAD, FLA - "I'm just going to let it sink in, enjoy it. But I'm very proud of the achievement," said Franchitti, who matched Sam Hornish Jr. with three titles and winning in consecutive seasons. "I do believe the competition level in the series is going up. For whatever reason, we at Team Target both Scott (Dixon) and myself maybe didn't have the speed advantage we had last year. In some cases, we have to work harder to finish in the top five at races.

"So to come away with a championship after a season like that is very satisfying. And we look back to Iowa and think to that gear box (18th place), that took a lot of points away, and from then on it was a real struggle. But nobody on the Target team gave up. We did our best every single week.

"We find ourselves here again tonight. It was pretty cool. Great to be out there enjoying that feeling and that moment with my family, my friends, my teammates, it doesn't get any better than that."

SCOTT DIXON WINS RACE AT HOMESTEAD

"It's a big deal trying to get to third," Dixon said. "With so many yellows, it turned into a fuel race and we had a few rough restarts. This was a huge night for us, but more importantly for Dario for taking another championship. We definitely had a rough year and a lot of missed opportunities, but everyone is very excited about the outcome."

Canadian driver Alex Tagliani finished 14th.

HELIO CASTRONEVES WINS WITH FUMES IN FUEL TANK

SPARTA, KY - "Unfortunately, we had an issue with our pit stop, but we started to make ground and head to the front," Castroneves said. "I tried to stay steady and saving fuel. All of a sudden, Cindric says 'Try to make this number.' I was like, 'That's going to be impossible, man.' He was already thinking to make a number that would be very difficult. But when we pitted the last time, he just said you've got to make this number because we have nothing to lose, and it's definitely going to pay off."

He added, "I remember in 2008 here I ran out of fuel and finished in second (to Scott Dixon). This time it paid off for Team Penske. We were loose in the beginning, but at the end it was meant to be."

Part time Canadian driver Paul Tracy came in 12th in his Dreyer & Reinbold Racing machine, while the other Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 15th. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

DARIO FRANCHITTI WINS AT CHICAGOLAND

JOLIET, IL - "We see how quickly these things can change, especially on these one and a half mile tracks," Franchitti said. "We're just going to keep going. It would have been easy to give up halfway through the race there when we were running 10th or whatever. I've been on the receiving end of getting beaten from them sometimes when Team Penske managed to pull things out of seemingly nowhere, so it was nice to be on the end of actually winning the race."

Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 25th. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

WILL POWER WINS AT SONAMA

SONOMA, CA - After his huge win at Infineon Raceway Will Power has his eye on the championship.

"I don't think this championship is almost mine," he said. "There's a lot of racing to go. Four races, a lot can happen. Really, whatever the buffer is, you can lose a lot of that in just one race. I'm going to race those ovals like I want to win the championship."

Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 14th. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

HONDA INDY 200
MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE
LEXINGTON, OH, AUGUST 8, 2010

DARIO FRANCHITTI GETS WIN

LEXINGTON, Ohio - "Quite a lot of things running through my head right now, getting to that quarter century, doing it here at Mid-Ohio, a place I found almost every way to lose a race," said Franchitti, who started second and recorded his second victory of the season. "Twelve years ago it was my first pole here. It's very satisfying."

"I think the key to the race, obviously, was the Target car was very fast. I drove every lap like it was a qualifying lap today, whether I was behind Will or ahead of Will. But the key was that first pit stop by the Target boys to get me out ahead, especially a 35 foot pit box. It's the tightest we run. In practice, we couldn't get the thing out of the box with Will parked in his or get it in properly. But when the race win was on the line, it didn't seem quite as difficult and managed to pass him. I think that was the key today, because we were incredibly evenly matched on the track."

Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 4th. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

HONDA INDY EDMONTON
EDMONTON, ALBERTA, JULY 25, 2010

SCOTT DIXON GETS WIN

EDMONTON, Alberta - Scott Dixon won after Helio Castroneves got black flagged for blocking at the end of the race. Castroneves crossed the finish line first, but ended up in 10th. place.

"Brian always says that if you're blocking going into any corner and you are on the right side - especially into Turn 1, you're going to get a penalty," said Dixon, who won for the second time this season. "We get told every week, so you could see something was going to happen.Obviously, Will had a pretty good run. The only way from stopping him was blocking. So if that's what you call it, yeah, that's blocking."

"All in all, not what I expected to happen at the end. In some ways, I knew those two, Will and Helio, were fighting pretty hard. You could see that the first time Helio passed Will. But to go that far to the right I think in Turn 1, I just continued on with the regular line where it's nice and clean and figured or hoped that they picked up a lot of debris and were going to make it tough through 1 and 2. That's kind of what happened. Pretty strange to not lead a lap and actually win the race."

Canadians Paul Tracy in his KV Racing Technology Racing machine finished 6th, and Alex Tagliani finished 23rd. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

WILL POWER GETS 4TH WIN OF SEASON

TORONTO, ONTARIO - "We worked really hard and this is the end result," said Power, who started on the front row for the seventh time and won for the fourth this season (two sets of back to back races). "I knew just from the marbles and the pick up that the restart was going to be really slippery. I saw (Wilson) make a mistake coming off the straight so I got a run on him and pulled it off. I would say it was a calculated but risky move to pass him on the outside because I wasn't sure I'd make it out the other side."

"It was close, but sometimes you have to do that in racing if you want to win, and that's what happened. It was a key to winning the race." added Power

Canadians Paul Tracy in his KV Racing Technology Racing machine finished 13th, and Alex Tagliani finished 17th. in his FAZZT Race Team Honda powered Dallara.

KANAAN WINS IOWA CORN INDY 250

NEWTON, IOWA - "I have to thank my team and the entire 7-Eleven crew," said Kanaan, who recorded three top 10s in this stretch of four oval races in the first half of the season.

"They did a great job. I had a great car. I have to thank my teammates, too. Marco (Andretti) and Ryan (Hunter-Reay) came over after I made a mistake during qualifying and I was pretty down. They talked to me for 45 minutes and cheered me up. Marco (led 12 laps early, finished 15th) gave me a little bit of his setup and Ryan (started 12th, finished eighth) actually helped me with the setup, putting it together for today. It was a great job as a team and it feels good."

Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 12th. in his FAZZT Race Team machine.

RYAN HUNTER-REAY WINS AT LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Ryan Hunter-Reay, the newest member of the Andretti Autosport quartet, received a bear hug from the CEO in Victory Circle. That meant a lot coming from a racing champion and newest enshirnee of the Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame - Michael Andretti.

"It was the most fun I had in a race car because it was handling so well," said Hunter-Reay, who is the first American-born driver to win at Long Beach since Andretti in 2002. "My mom is out there today. She passed along recently and this race is for her. Over the last couple of laps I said 'This is for you, Mom'."

BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
THE INDY GRAND PRIX OF ALABAMA
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA(Round 3/ April 11, 2010)

HELIO CASTRONEVES WINS IN BIRMINGHAM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Team Venom Energy race strategist Kyle Moyer was "looking for a yellow" to aid race leader Marco Andretti. It came, but too late to help the Andretti Autosport driver from seeing the dual checkers for the second time in his IZOD IndyCar Series career.

Instead, the No. 26 car had to pit for a 3.3 second splash fuel on Lap 82 of 90, giving the lead to Team Penske's Helio Castroneves.

That's all it took in a race full of fuel strategy and excitement - with all 25 cars running at the finish for the first time in IZOD IndyCar Series history, only two brief full course cautions breaking up the lap dashes and a crowd double that of any event previously held at Barber Motorsports Park (53,555; three day total of 84,126) cheering on every lap.

Canadian Alex Tagliani finished 10th in his FAZZT Race Team machine.
