HONDA INDY 200
MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE
LEXINGTON, OHIO(Round 12/ Aug 9, 2009)

SCOTT DIXON WINS 20TH IRL RACE

LEXINGTON, Ohio - A sweat soaked firesuit served as his royal garb and a water bottle his scepter. Nonetheless, Scott Dixon was crowned the IndyCar Series king Aug. 9 in a humid Victory Circle at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Dixon won the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by Westfield Insurance in commanding fashion for his record 20th IndyCar Series victory. Speedways, bullrings, road/street circuits, the 30-year old New Zealander has conquered them all - along with two series titles and an Indianapolis 500 victory - leading to his coronation.

"Obviously it's a fantastic milestone for myself and obviously for the team," said Dixon, who registered his fourth win of the season. "I've achieved all of those wins with Target. Without them, it wouldn't have been possible.

"To finally be labeled (Mr. IRL) I think in this series is a big deal to me, a big deal to the team. But it's going to be tough to hang on to that. To keep that going, I'm definitely going to have to keep racing for a lot more years. If I got to 25, 30 or 35, that would be pretty cool."

CAMPING WORLD GRAND PRIX
WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
(Round 8/ July 5, 2009)

JUSTIN WILSONS POST RACE COMMENTS:

When the optional Firestones were working so well that we were able to just run them throughout the whole stint. They didn't really go off. They didn't degrade. So we knew that we could do two full stints on them without any problem.

They were fantastic. A little bit more grip, and a little bit more confidence. I mean, it was a nice feeling to have those underneath me. Especially on that last stint where we were trying to save fuel, and still trying to get the mileage to go to the end.

I knew that Ryan didn't have them and I did. And as soon as that yellow came out, we didn't need to save fuel again, we could run flat out to the end. And also, the option tires seemed to be coming in a little bit quicker. It heats up faster, so I was able to open up a nice gap, and make my life a lot easier the last five laps.

SUNTRUST INDY CHALLENGE
RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
(Round 8/ June 27, 2009)

SCOTT DIXON WINS AT RICHMOND

Scott Dixon wasn't thinking about tying the IndyCar Series' victory record during the closing laps of the SunTrust Indy Challenge at Richmond International Raceway. More pressing was keeping Target Chip Ganaasi Racing teammate Dario Franchitti behind his No. 9 entry.

Dixon remained the leader following a Lap 260 restart on the 0.75-mile oval and went on to win by 0.3109 of a second - his second victory at the D-shaped oval (2003), his third victory of the season (Kansas, Milwaukee) and the 19th of his career (tying Sam Hornish Jr.).

"Achievements like that are something you can look back at someday and treasure," said Dixon, who's embroiled in a points battle at the midpoint of the season. "There will be many years, hopefully, in my career that I can try to build on that. But there are a lot of people like TK (Tony Kanaan) and Helio (Castroneves) that are pretty close. I have to stick at it for a long time to try to keep that going."

THE MILWAUKEE MILE
(Round 5/ May 31, 2009)

SCOTT DIXON TAKES THE MILWAUKEE MILE

"I think the Milwaukee Mile is an extremely tough track to go around by yourself," said Dixon. "When you have 20 or more cars, it's even tougher. We just kind of waited patiently in the second and third spot for most of it, trying to save fuel, seeing if we could make a jump there.

"You can't really use traffic. You just got to time it right. You've got to try to look ahead, see where those guys are using their lines, see if he's on the bottom, see if he's on the top, what's going to be the quickest way if you can get around. Luckily for me, my car was fantastic on the high line in (Turns) 1 and 2.

"I got a great run on the high side and it just lined up perfect. From that point on, the car was hooked up."

INDIANAPOLIS 500
INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
(Round 4/ May 24, 2009)

HELIO CASTRONEVES WINS THE INDY 500

A friend of mine sent me a message: 'It would make a great Hollywood story. Win the race. Go get them,' " Castroneves said hours before the race. "I said, 'Get ready for an Oscar.' "

Canadian drivers Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani came in a respectable 9th. and 11th., a great feat since they aren't regulars in the IRL season.

Congratulations to all drivers in the Indy 500 for a great race.

ROAD RUNNER TURBO INDY 300
KANSAS SPEEDWAY
(Round 3/ Apr 26, 2009)

SCOTT DIXON WINS, TONY KANAAN GET #1 IN POINTS

"You've got to come out of the box fighting, you've got to be strong, you've got to be consistent," said Dixon, who vaulted from 17th in the standings to fourth with a 52-point effort (50 for victory, two bonus points for leading a field-high 134 laps) in winning the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway. "I think that shows with (Kanaan) taking the points lead. He's been in the top five every race we've gone to, but still hasn't won."
Dixon added "Consistency's definitely the key. You have to come out with your A game. That's what makes this championship so tough to win. You've got so many great competitors. You've got big teams, fantastic drivers. It's getting tougher each year."

BRISCOE WINS ST PETE'S SEASON OPENER

"I wanted to come in carrying off the experience I gained last year and try to kick the season off gaining points and trying to go for this championship," said Briscoe, who on previous St. Pete visits finished 23rd and 14th."This is our first race of the season and it's such a great feeling to kick it off with a race win. The conditions were tough; it was very tricky on restarts. The tires would get very cold and it would be very slippery. It was a challenge to keep it between the white lines and off the wall. I had some strong challenges from behind, but my car was very strong today and I was able to hold them off."

Briscoe, who started fourth on the 22-car grid, overtook race leader Justin Wilson in Turn 1 just after a Lap 86 restart. Briscoe withstood pressure on restarts after two more full-course cautions in the final 14 laps to record his third victory in 37 starts over parts of five seasons in the series - his second full season with the Roger Penske-led team.

"At the end there, we had some restarts and I was able to get Justin Wilson down on the inside," Briscoe said. "I had a great car with Team Penske today. Roger Penske calls my strategy and it was just absolutely perfect."
