AUDI WINS AT LE MANS 2011

 JUNE 12, 2011/ At one of the most thrilling and dramatic 24 hour races in Le Mans history Audi ultra lightweight technology has prevailed. At the fascinating thriller which kept 250,000 spectators at the race track and millions in front of their TV sets watching in awe Marcel Faessler (Switzerland), Andre Lotterer (Germany) and Benoit Treluyer (France) in the innovative Audi R18 TDI clinched the tenth Le Mans victory in total for the brand with the four rings.

The drama at the 79th edition of the world's most famous endurance could hardly be surpassed. After Audi had lost two of its Audi R18 TDI cars as early as in the first third of the race due to accidents all hopes were pinned on car number "2" that had secured the pole position in qualifying for Audi. For 16 hours Faessler, Lotterer and Treluyer were on their own in the battle against three factory fielded Peugeot cars that left no stone unturned to keep Audi from taking victory.

F1200 SEASON OPENS AT MOSPORT

Bowmanville - February 9, 2010
Last year the Formula 1200 Championship had a very event filled season. Races in Shannonville, Mosport International Raceway and Calabogie, with 23 Drivers competing in a mix of sunshine, rain, fog, wind - and one this season even hail, made for one of the best seasons ever.

Michael Iamundi dominated the 2009 season, won eleven races, and earned the 2009 season championship with a tight finish in the drivers points yet again. Andrew McMurrary was a podium regular and top 5 finisher. Andrew took some amazing onboard video footage as well, showing drivers how it is import to draft and finished the season in second place. Eric Barret was the new 2009 Vallis Cup winner for this year, scoring a hat trick in winning the three racing that weekend. Eric won six of the last nine races. Eric Barret finished the season on a high note with third overall.

The Formula 1200 Championship starts its racing season at Mosport International raceway May 8 - 9 in the BEMC 60th Annual Spring Trophy Races.

RACE ONTARIO FORMULA LIBRE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

 SEPTEMBER 25, 2010/ The Formula Libre series is for all single-seaters and lightweight sports racers, providing some of the fastest competition in Ontario. Formula Libre competitors include Formula Mazda, Formula Renault, Radical and Formula 2000 and Canadian-built Formula Four cars.

While Indy Lights, Formula Atlantic and BOSS Series cars are allowed to compete most cars are in the less than $10,000 bracket, and are a good next step up from Karting.

THE ONTARIO FORMULA FORD CHAMPIONSHIP

SEPTEMBER 19, 2010/ The Ontaro Formula Ford Championship is Ontario's premier Open Wheel series. This is a series for amateurs and pro racing hopefuls, and the cars provide an intense racing experience for relatively low cost. The Formula 1600 cars often range in price from $10,000 to $20,000.

The cars run in three classes. The "A" class is for chassis built between 1995-2008. The Class "B" is for chassis built between 1985 and 1994. The Class "C" is for chassis built between 1969 and 1984. The races take place at Shannonville Motorsport Park, Mosport International Raceway and Calabogie Motorspots Park.

2011 TARGA NEWFOUNDLAND

 SEPTEMBER 10, 2011/
Targa Newfoundland is the only event of its kind to be held in North America. It is a yearly 2200 km long, automotive adventure. It is run over the course of seven days every September on the paved roads of the eastern and central parts of Newfoundland.

The race takes part on public roads in two sections. Three quarters of the race is designated "Transit" and follows all the rules of the road. The rest of the race is designated "Targa" and is a speed race on publicly closed roads.

VOLKSWAGEN TO TAKE ON "DAKAR" CHALLENGE AGAIN IN 2010

Volkswagen will again participate in the legendary Dakar Rally in 2010. After the one-two victory and the historic first "Dakar" triumph of a diesel-powered car this year, the automobile manufacturer from Wolfsburg will yet again take on one of the major challenges of international motorsport.

"No doubt, the 2009 Dakar Rally contributed to the fact that the Volkswagen brand is now shining even brighter around the world," said Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Volkswagen Group, on the occasion of the "Dakar" victory celebration at the Wolfsburg "Autostadt". "Therefore, our participation in this event is a good investment in the future of our company and that's why we decided to again compete in the Dakar Rally in 2010."

In the Race Touareg powered by a 280-hp TDI diesel engine Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) had won the "Dakar" that was staged for the first time in South America; as the runners-up, Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA) gave Volkswagen a one-two victory. In 2010, the Dakar Rally will be held in Argentina and Chile again, from 02 to 17 January."

PEUGEOT AND ORECA OVER THE MOON

The 2010 LMS season is now over and the winners will party tonight to celebrate their titles. In the end, Team ORECA Matmut and Peugeot, as a car manufacturer, came away with everything, and Audi with nothing. Stephane Sarrazin started the 1,000Km of Silverstone as title favourite and duly ended it as champion for the second time.Nicolas Minassian and Anthony Davidson snatched a strong overall victory while Strakka Racing took a brilliant victory in the LMP2 class. Jody Firth and Warren Hughes brought a third trophy home this weekend thanks to FLM, and AF Corse Ferrari secured their second win of the season.Despite a few rain drops, the track has remained dry the whole race and no safety car period disturbed the course of the race.

RACE ONTARIO GT SPRINTS

 AUGUST 8, 2010/ This this is club racing at its best. The GT cars race in 6 classes: GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4,GT5 and GT6. Most racing events take place at Mosport International Raceway with apearances at Calabogie Motorsports Park and Shannonville Motorsport Park. The series usually has a field of 45 plus cars with lots of passing action.

FORMULA BMW AMERICAS WRAPS UP SEASON AND SERIES

 AUGUST 30, 2009
The Formula Americas season and series concluded at Mosport International Raceway this weekend with Round 13 and 14.

Giancarlo Vilarinho earned his seventh Formula BMW Americas win of the season August 30 at Mosport International Raceway in the last ever series race.

The 2009 Formula BMW Americas champion is EuroInternational's Gabby Chaves. Michael Lewis won the Rookie Cup, with a fourth place finish in the final race at Mosport.

"I had a really great time this year running in the Formula BMW Americas championship and much of what I learned here will help me throughout my career," Chaves said. "Today was a good race for me, I really wanted to finish on the podium, and we were able to run hard and get a good finish."
