TIMO SCHEIDER WINS RACE AND TITLE
The new DTM Champion has been crowned: With a victory in the finale at Hockenheim, Audi driver Timo Scheider clinched the title win in the most popular international touring car racing series and celebrated the biggest triumph in his career. In his private life, the 29-year-old driver from Lahnstein is a family man who prefers spending time with his girlfriend and his son to the stereotypical life of a racer.
Timo Scheider has made his dream come true. Ever since the new DTM was launched in 2000 the Austrian-by-choice, barring a brief break, has been a member of the DTM family - today, he permanently entered his name in the annals of DTM history. In eleven races the Audi factory driver was on the podium eight times, the average of his grid positions equals the impressive value of 2.9. From "man of the hour" - as the media called him after his initial exploits - Scheider evolved into the "man of the year" and, arguably, there is no one in the paddock who would begrudge this success of the likeable German.
Timo Scheider has worked hard for the success which he can now fully enjoy. His time in Formula 3 - culminating in second place of the 1997 championship - was followed by his entry into the DTM in 2000. After difficult years, he switched into a year-old car of the Audi squad in 2006. Delivering strong performances, Scheider after one year managed the leap into a new car of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, in which he accompanied Mattias Ekstrom on his way to the 2007 title. Now, Scheider has defended the Cup for Audi in the first year of the new A4 and follows his team-mate on the throne of touring car racing.

LE MANS BUGATTI CIRCUIT LE MANS, FRANCE ROUND 10 of 11, October 5, 2008
The DTM is visiting the Bugatti Circuit, representing a part of the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe, the annual venue of the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.

AN INTERVIEW WITH ALEXANDRE PREMAT ABOUT THE DTM AT LE MANS
The DTM returns to Le Mans after a year's break. For Alexandre Premat, who is contracted to Audi since 2007, the tenth race of the season means his first DTM start in front of his home crowd. The motorsport career of the French "star of tomorrow" started at Le Mans.
What memories do you have of the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans?
"I competed in Formula Campus there at the beginning of my career and have also scored many excellent results there. We were also at Le Mans with the Formula 3 Euro Series. I'm a big fan of the Bugatti circuit."
Are you already looking forward to having your home race at Le Mans?
"A home race is always something very special and don't forget I'll be with the DTM for the first time at Le Mans. However, it's not the first time with Audi since I've already competed in the 24-hour race there. I have many fans in France, for whom the race at the Sarthe is the closest track. Audi France will almost certainly take advantage of the event. France is one of the most important European markets for Audi."
How would you describe the track?
"The first part is identical to the track used by the legendary 24-hour race. You'll also sense the atmosphere in this part of the facility during the DTM race. This is then followed by several very tight corners on the way back to the start-finish. I think you'll see plenty of exciting overtaking manoeuvres in the Chapelle corner and into the double-right. It's also possible in the corners in the final sector."
How difficult is it to find the right set-up for this track?
"Even though I've never driven with the DTM car there, I don't expect it to be so difficult. The track is actually quite untypical compared to the other tracks found on the DTM calendar and certainly not as technical as many other tracks."

Here are the thoughts of the top three drivers after the race:
Mattias Ekstrom (winner, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): "Coming to a race without really playing a role in the battle for the title was quite unusual, but the race has been great fun. It is all the better that I could score my third season win like this. The tyre decision before the start was very difficult, but on the first few laps, slicks were the right choice. Then, rain started to get stronger. My third stop was necessary because I needed rain tyres. Compliments to the team that has made the right decisions at the right time. With the Audi A4, we have a very good car, so I am confident for the finale at Hockenheim. Moreover, Timo is still two points ahead."
Paul di Resta (2nd place, AMG Mercedes): "That was an incredible race. Indeed, we had picked the wrong tyres before the start, but in the race, we did everything right in terms of strategy. I have never seen so many changes between rain and dry weather in one race. I really pushed as hard as I could, and it all came out the right way. The fights with Alex (Premat) were tough and they could have ended in tears for one of us. I wanted to score more points than Timo (Scheider) here, so my verdict is: job done. Hockenheim will be an entertaining race, I promise that to all spectators."
Alexandre Premat (3rd place, Audi Sport Team Phoenix): "What a race for me and for all spectators. After a good start, I was third right away. I really wanted to finish on the podium in front of my home crowd, and I already had a good feeling before the start. I had tough door-to-door fights with Paul (di Resta). Sometimes I pushed more, sometimes he did. Now, I am very happy to be the first driver to finish on the podium with a year-old car this season."

EKSTROM EXCLUDED FROM RACE, TIME PENALTY FOR GREEN
After the too harsh duel between Swedish Audi driver Mattias Ekstrom and Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz/GB) on the final lap of the ninth season round of the DTM in Barcelona, the stewards of the meeting gave further penalties. Directly after the race, Ekstrom had been given a 50 seconds' time penalty.
After further investigation, the reigning DTM champion has been excluded from the race and was fined 5,000 Euros. Jamie Green was given a 30 seconds' time penalty and drops back from his original seventh place to eighth position. For Ralf Schumacher, who moves up one place, this means that he scores two points instead of one point for the championship. The decision doesn't have any effect on the order in the championship standings.
For both drivers, the stewards of the meeting declared it proved that they could have avoided the collision. Because of this, the judgement was based on paragraph 45 and 18.2a from the sporting regulations of the DTM. As Ekstrom already had caught the attention of the stewards in a negative way during the race, his penalty was bigger. Both teams accepted the penalty and refrained from an appeal.

HERE ARE THE TOP DRIVER'S QUOTES AFTER THE RACE
Paul di Resta (winner, AMG Mercedes): "Today, I probably had the fastest car in the field. I had a great fight with Timo Scheider. At some parts of the track, he was faster, but at other parts, I was. The overtaking manoeuvre was absolutely clean and Timo played along perfectly. I knew that I would have to be very close to him all the time in order to being able to start an attack at all. But it was also my goal to avoid too many risks as I didn't want to drop back in the points' standings. There are still two races remaining, we will see what we can do."
Timo Scheider (2nd place, Audi Sport Team Abt): "I am not at all disappointed with second place. My start was good and I was able to overtake Bernd Schneider before the first corner. After that, Paul di Resta put me under quite some pressure. He was a little bit faster and made good use of a slight gap. Being on the podium today was our goal. There are still 20 points at stake. Anyone who knows the DTM also knows that everything is still possible, even though we remain in front."
Bernd Schneider (3rd place, Original-Teile AMG Mercedes): "Unfortunately, I had wheelspin at the start and therefore really had to battle for third place in the first corner. I couldn't really keep up with Paul di Resta and Timo Scheider out in front. I had hoped to be able to fight with Timo for second place. But unfortunately, we had a slight problem during the pit stop which cost us some time. After that, I could work with my tyres quite well and I was running pretty much on my own. For a man of my age, it is quite comfortable not having somebody right behind me all the time."

BRANDS HATCH, GREAT BRITAIN FAWKHAM, LONGFIELD, KENT ROUND 8 of 11, August 31, 2008
The DTM cars are back for an exciting round of racing at Brands Hatch.
TIMO SCHEIDER ON POLE AT BRANDS HATCH
For the fourth time this season and for the sixth time in his career, Timo Scheider (Audi) will be on pole position for a DTM race. In qualifying for the eighth season round of the DTM at Brands Hatch, the German secured himself the best possible grid position with the Audi A4 DTM with a lap time of 42.084 seconds. Lining up alongside Scheider will be local hero Paul di Resta (Mercedes-Benz), who qualified second. With his AMG Mercedes C-Class, di Resta only came 0.090 seconds short of Scheider's fastest lap time. The second grid row will be occupied by Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz) and Martin Tomczyk. Oliver Jarvis (Audi) was the best-placed driver with a year-old car in sixth place behind Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz). Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz), who caused the first heat to be interrupted after only a few minutes by going off into the gravel trap at Druids, ended up eighth behind Mattias Ekstrom.
Timo Scheider (GW:plus/Top Service Audi A4 DTM #10): "This is a perfect day for me today. I was facing this weekend with a certain amount of awe because I didn't get along with the track here at Brands Hatch terribly well in the past two years. So now I'm even happier about having clinched my fourth pole this year on this particular circuit. Grid positions mean a lot at Brands Hatch because overtaking is difficult. In other words, we've got ideal prerequisites for the race."

SCHEIDER EXTENDS POINTS LEAD WITH SECOND SEASON WIN
Fawkham. For the second time this season, Timo Scheider crossed the finish line after a DTM race as the winner. In the eighth season round of the most popular international touring car series at Brands Hatch, the 29-year old claimed victory after an error-free race with his Audi A4 DTM, finishing just ahead of Briton Paul di Resta (Mercedes-Benz). After 82 laps at the shortest circuit on the DTM calendar with 1.929 kilometres, second-placed di Resta with his AMG Mercedes C-Class was only 0.7 seconds down on the winner. The line-up on the podium was completed by reigning DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom (Audi). Having started seventh, a consistent performance and good pit stops allowed the Swede to make up four places. The points scoring positions were completed by Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz), Martin Tomczyk (Audi), Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz), Tom Kristensen (Audi) and Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz), who finished eighth with his year-old car and collected one point. With his second season victory, Scheider was able to further extend his points' lead. Prior to the ninth season round in Barcelona (Spain), he is first with 54 points. Di Resta and Green are tied at 45 points behind Scheider. Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton watched the race from the pits. Before the race, Hamilton had signed countless autographs and thrilled the fans with demonstration laps with his Formula 1 car.

WINNERS QUOTES:
Timo Scheider (winner, Audi Sport Team Abt): "The pole position, the fastest race lap and victory - that was simply a fantastic day today. Now we can really celebrate and then tackle the final spurt of the season with the last three races. I came to Brands Hatch feeling a little on edge because things didn't go that well for me here in the past two years. I analysed lots of data and watched video footage to get everything right this weekend. Obviously, this helped and was one of the keys to success today. I'd like to thank Audi and my mechanics from Abt Sportsline for their great support. But I also want to thank our rivals from Mercedes, who practised fair play on the track today in every respect, even while being lapped. This way, racing is really fun."
Paul di Resta (2nd place, AMG Mercedes): "All in all, it has been a good performance throughout the weekend and we can be happy with the result. Now, we are preparing for Barcelona. There, we should be able to do better than here."
Mattias Ekstrom (3rd place, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): "A good weekend after all. I came here with my eyes set on victory. However, after my gearbox problem in qualifying and the subsequent seventh place on the grid, this result is all right."

BRUNO SPENGLER SETS FASTEST TIME AT NURBURGRING
July 25, 2008/ In the battle between Audi and Mercedes-Benz, it is 1:1 after two tests on Friday in preparation for the seventh round of the DTM in the Eifel. After Audi's Tom Kristensen had topped the time sheets on Friday morning, Bruno Spengler stepped up in the afternoon: with the AMG Mercedes C-Class of the HWA team, the Canadian set a fastest lap time of 1.24.876 minutes, which was also the fastest time of the day. Points' leader Timo Scheider was just beaten in the 90 minutes' session: 0.108 seconds down, he was second.

BERND SCHNEIDER WINS RAIN THRILLER IN THE EIFEL
Nuerburg. He gambled and won: DTM record champion Bernd Schneider (Mercedes-Benz) has won the seventh DTM round at the Nuerburgring. The German dominantly won a race that was marked by tactics after the rain set in. He finished ahead of his team-mates Paul di Resta and Jamie Green. The success for Mercedes-Benz in the Eifel was completed by Gary Paffett, who crossed the finish line in fourth place after 43 laps. Schneider's victory was in jeopardy in the closing stages: when the rain set in, his HWA team left Schneider out on slicks, but called second-placed di Resta in for a tyre change. The latter dropped back, but later made it up into second again with rain tyres.
Best-placed Audi driver was Timo Scheider, who finished fifth behind the Mercedes-Benz quartet and thus defended his championship lead. Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes-Benz) scored his first point in his seventh DTM race. The former F1 driver came home eighth behind Mattias Ekstrom (Audi) and Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz). After seven of eleven rounds, Timo Scheider is leading the points' standings with 44 points from Jamie Green (40 points) and Mattias Ekstrom (38 points).
_____________________________
As a foot note: Fans have something to look forward to: the DTM will be coming back to the Eifel, at least until 2011. In the next three years, the legendary Nuerburgring will again be hosting rounds of the most popular international touring car series. This was agreed upon during the seventh season round of the 2007 DTM by DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. and the Nuerburgring GmbH. "The Nuerburgring belongs to professional motorsport and to the DTM like hardly any other circuit. Therefore, the extension of the contract is an important step in the planning of the DTM", said ITR chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht. The managing director of the Nuerburgring GmbH, Dr. Walter Kafitz, was also very happy: "Every year, the DTM event is an absolute highlight and above all a very important economical factor for the region."

HERE ARE SOME POST RACE DRIVER QUOTES :
Bernd Schneider (winner, Original-Teile AMG Mercedes): "A great race with a good ending for me. Thanks to my engineer who decided to let me start with slicks, although I actually wanted to have rain tyres on. My car was really great and two perfect pit stops of my mechanics allowed me to make up at least two places. Thanks guys, tonight, one round is on me."
Paul di Resta (2nd place, AMG Mercedes): "Today, we have made the right tyre choice. I led for most of the race and therefore, I had the biggest risk. As the race leader, I couldn't orientate by the cars in front of me in these conditions. Bernd could get past me due to a mistake during the pit stop. When the rain became stronger towards the end, we decided to change to rain tyres. With one lap more in the race, that could have been victory."
Jamie Green (3rd place, Salzgitter AMG Mercedes): "I didn't expect to make it onto the podium from 13th place on the grid. It was a difficult race, but with the right tyre choice, I was able to make it onto the podium. Towards the end, it was quite close again as the rain became quite strong."
Timo Scheider (5th place, top Audi finisher, Audi Sport Team Abt): "A disappointing weekend. After my ninth grid position, I knew that it would be difficult today. Still finishing fifth with four pit stops is at least a way of limiting the damage. I have been fighting like a bull, but that was all I could do today."

#1 AUDI CAR MATTIAS EKSTROM AT ZANDVOORT
EKSTROM LEADS AUDI TO QUADRUPLE VICTORY AT ZANDVOORT
For the third time in his DTM career, Mattias Ekstrom claimed victory in the DTM race at Zandvoort in The Netherlands. Having started from pole position, the Swede crossed the finish line in first place after 38 laps at the Circuit Park Zandvoort with his Audi A4 DTM. Audi's triumph at the circuits in the North Sea dunes was made perfect by his team- and brand mates Timo Scheider, Tom Kristensen and Martin Tomczyk in second, third and fourth place respectively. For 29 year old Ekstrom, it was his 12th victory in a DTM race. Behind the Audi quartet, Mercedes-Benz drivers Bruno Spengler, Jamie Green and Paul di Resta finished fifth to seventh.
Mattias Ekstrom, the winner for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline had this to say. "A great weekend. First pole position yesterday, then victory today. Just perfect. My car was great and there was absolutely nothing to complain about today. Timo kept me under pressure all the time, so that I had to be on the limit throughout the race."
Well done!!

NORISRING, GERMANY ROUND 5 of 11, June 29, 2008
The 2.3-kilometre street circuit located in the heart of Nuremberg doesn't offer the DTM drivers the slightest chance of having a breather while being extremely gruelling for the material at the same time. While contesting round five of the 2008 DTM season, cars and drivers will have to lap the second-shortest race track on the DTM calendar 74 times. The only circuit where the supporters can watch their heroes driving past even more often is Brands Hatch.
AUDI DRIVER MARKUS WINKELHOCK TALKS ABOUT THE NORISRING
"It is the only street circuit on the calendar and a very special one at that: The Norisring is quite simply regarded as the Monaco of Germany because of its flair and the hordes of spectators." He also states "The Norisring does actually belong to the few circuits on which a DTM car is brutally stressed and should therefore be spared over the distance. For example, we brake from 260 to 50 km/h at the Grundig hairpin, and this more than 70 times. It is probably the hardest race for the car. For a driver the temperatures typical experienced in June are also a stress, but which I personally don't have a problem with."

MATTIAS EKSTROM QUICKEST IN FIRST TEST ON FRIDAY
"I think this year we can truly fight for victory here at the Norisring," said Ekstrom after the two 90-minute test sessions. "I've got a very good feeling and am optimistic. We're on the right track."
Just like his team-mates, the Swede completed a race simulation on Friday. "The main objective was to use different constellations to analyse how brake temperatures develop over the long race distance," explained Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. "Generally, it's been a good day. The cars were running without any problems and, except for an outside mirror, everything remained intact."

CANADIAN BRUNO SPENGLER ON POLE
Quotes from row 1 at Norisring:
Bruno Spengler (1st grid position) in the Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG Mercedes: "The Norisring is my thing, I am feeling well here. Today is a good day. It can go on like this. I think that we are well prepared for Sunday and I have a good chance of winning. But we can't be sure too early, because a lot of things can happen here at the Norisring."
Jamie Green (2nd grid position) in the Salzgitter AMG Mercedes: "Starting into the race from second position is quite good. Unfortunately, I didn't get all my best sector times together in one lap. Otherwise, I would have been higher up. But the race on Sunday is long and a lot of things can happen."

LAUSITZ, GERMANY ROUND 4 of 11, May 18, 2008
Mercedes-Benz evens odds: victory for Di Resta in the Lausitz
Two wins for Audi, two for Mercedes-Benz. That is the situation after four DTM races this season. Scotsman Paul di Resta brought the equalizer on Sunday by claiming his maiden DTM victory after only 14 races with a lights-to-flag win at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. "It can't be any better than today", di Resta said. After 51 laps, the 22-year old crossed the finish line in his AMG Mercedes C-Class with the considerable margin of 5.562 seconds over his main rival.

Disqualification after race for Alexandre Premat
Audi driver, Alexandre Premat was excluded a posteriori from the fourth round of the DTM at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz by the stewards of the meeting. During the Frenchman's second pit stop, a tire was mounted on his car that wasn't allocated for qualifying or the race. This meant an infringement of article 29.3 of the sporting regulations by the 22 year old. The team accepted the penalty and didn't appeal. Premat had scored one point for the drivers' standings by finishing eighth. Because of his exclusion, his British team mate moved up into eighth place.

Oschersleben. For the second time this season, Timo Scheider (Audi) is on pole position. After his first place on the grid for the season opener at Hockenheim, the German also secured himself the most favourable starting position for the second round of the season at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. On his fastest lap, the 29-year old lapped the 3.696 kilometres long circuit in the region of Magdeburg in 1.21.146 minutes. For Scheider, it is the fourth pole position of his DTM career. Lining up alongside him on the front row of the grid will be his team-mate Tom Kristensen. The Audi success was completed by Martin Tomczyk in third and Oliver Jarvis in fourth place. Bruno Spengler was the best-placed Mercedes-Benz driver in fifth place. The Canadian is followed by Paul di Resta and Jamie Green, two further drivers with a current-spec AMG Mercedes C-Class. On Sunday, Ralf Schumacher will be starting 13th. The second heat of the three-heat qualifying session had to be stopped after Alexandre Premat had spun and hit the barrier. In the process, the Frenchman damaged his Audi A4 DTM and wasn't able to take part in the final heat. All drivers who had made it into the second session were also allowed to take part in the third and final part of qualifying.

AUDI DRIVER TIMO SCHEIDER CLAIMS FIRST DTM POLE OF THE YEAR
Apr 12, 2008/ Timo Scheider made the first mark of the new DTM season. In qualifying for the season opener at the Hockenheimring Baden-Wuerttemberg, the Audi driver set a fastest lap time of 1.32.655 minutes at the 4.574 kilometres long track and thus secured himself the first DTM pole position of the season.

AUDI TAKE TOP THREE IN DTM SEASON OPENER
Mattias Ekstrom takes the win for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. He said post race: "From Friday onwards, our car has been very good and I was confident that I would be able to score a good result here. I had a very good start and the pit stops were excellent. During the race, I lost some time when I was stuck behind Bernd Schneider and Timo Scheider put me under quite some pressure. Especially at the start of the season, everybody wants to get a good result and so I am very happy with my ten points and the 1-2-3 for Audi. Such a start is beautiful." The two other podium finishers were Timo Scheider, the pole sitter (2nd) and Tom Kristensen (3rd).
Bruno Spengler from Canada came in 4th for Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG Mercedes. He had this to say about the race:"On one hand, I am a little bit disappointed. But when you look at the past few years, I have never been able to score points here in the first race at Hockenheim. Now, I have at least five points and I am happy with it, as every point counts in the end. It was the first of eleven races and a lot of things can still happen in the ten rounds to come. I am confident that I will be quick again at Oschersleben."
In lap 1 Schumacher collided with Albers at the hairpin, sending Albers
into the pits for a tire change. By lap 3 Albers is in the pits again and retires, resulting in a no score.

KATHERINE LEGGE
Feb 29, 2008/ Katherine Legge is going to contest the DTM season for
Audi. She is making the move from Champ Car racing in North America to Sportscar racing in Europe for the 2008 season. Born on 12th July,
1980 in England, she worked her way up to the 1996 Scotch Kart Championship title. From there she went to British Formula Ford, and then contested both the 2004 the European and the North American Formula Renault Championships.
Next she ran in the 2005 Champ Car Atlantic Championship in the USA and Canada where she finished 3rd overall. From there Katherine Legge moved up to the ChampCar World Series. Definitely great credentials to move to one of Europe's biggest series, the DTM. Rolf's Racing wishes her much success.
