The Champcar Atlantic Championship Series visits Mosport in August along with the ALMS.
This multinational series in 2007 had drivers form 12 nations, including 5 from Canada.
The cars are made-in-the-USA Atlantic Swift 016 with a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth engine capable of producing 300-horsepower. Cooper Tire is the exclusive tire supplier to the Champcar Atlantic Championship Series.
Many drivers from this series have moved up into the top championships. They include Jacques Villeneuve, Keke Rosberg, Sam Hornish Jr., Buddy Rice,
Greg Ray, Danica Patrick and Dan Wheldon.
The Champcar Atlantic Championship Series always delivers good racing.
New for 2009 the series has been bought by Atlanta Businessman Ben Johnston ensuring a smooth transition from former owners Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe.
